For liquid nitrogen workflows, select vapor-phase storage. CryoClear must not be immersed in liquid-phase nitrogen. Confirm the selected vial’s instructions and your laboratory protocol before use.

What is the difference between the three vial ranges?
Diamond Essentials uses a plug seal tested to 85 kPa. RingSeal uses a traditional silicone O-ring tested to 90 kPa. CryoClear uses a co-molded TPE cap tested to 95 kPa and adds unique 1D barcodes, matching human-readable codes and enhanced lot-level certification.
Can these vials be used in liquid nitrogen?
The Essentials flyer specifies use down to −196°C in the vapor phase. CryoClear is intended for vapor-phase liquid nitrogen use and must not be used in the liquid phase. RingSeal lists a −196°C lower temperature limit; confirm its use instructions for your planned storage conditions. A temperature rating alone does not establish suitability for immersion.
What is the difference between nominal and working volume?
Nominal volume identifies the vial size. Working volume is the filling volume provided for a specific vial. For example, a 2 mL Essentials or RingSeal vial lists a 1.8 mL working volume. The CryoClear brochure does not list working volumes; confirm the appropriate fill volume for your sample and protocol.
Should I choose internal or external threads?
Essentials is external-thread only. RingSeal and CryoClear offer both. External threads help minimize sample entrapment around the threaded area. Match thread choice to your handling workflow and laboratory procedures; confirm any equipment requirements separately.
Are the vials sterile and free of RNase and DNase?
Essentials and RingSeal vial item descriptions specify sterile products, and both ranges are certified RNase, DNase and pyrogen free. CryoClear is beta-radiation sterilized with an SAL of 10⁻⁶; every lot is independently certified free of RNase, DNase, pyrogens, human DNA and ATP. CryoClear certificates of analysis are available upon request.
Do all cryogenic vials have barcodes?
No. CryoClear includes a unique 1D barcode and matching human-readable code on each vial. Diamond Essentials and RingSeal do not include individual barcodes in the supplied comparison. All three ranges have graduations and a writing area.
What do the 85, 90 and 95 kPa ratings mean?
They are the specified leak-proof test pressures for Essentials, RingSeal and CryoClear respectively. CryoClear’s brochure specifies a closure force of at least 8 cNm for its 95 kPa certification. A vial pressure rating does not, by itself, establish that an entire shipment meets transport requirements.
Are the vials autoclavable?
All three ranges are listed as autoclavable. RingSeal specifies 121°C for 15 minutes; CryoClear identifies both tubes and caps as autoclavable. Follow the applicable product instructions and your validated sterilization procedure.
Which formats and packaging are available?
Essentials offers 1, 2, 4 and 5 mL external-thread, self-standing vials. RingSeal adds internal threads and selected non-self-standing formats. CryoClear adds a 3 mL external-thread format and individual barcodes. Essentials and RingSeal list units of 500; CryoClear is packaged 50 per bag and 500 per case.
How do I confirm fit with racks and boxes?
Check the exact item’s capped height, vial diameter and cap diameter against your rack and storage box specifications. CryoClear dimensions are included in the selector. Contact Globe for dimensional confirmation when a dimension is not listed or when integrating with automation.
