Dear Visitor,
1983 seems so long ago. Yet, I clearly remember that special day in June when I officially opened the door to our business. The office was in the finished basement of my home in New Jersey, where I set up a 2-line phone on an old kitchen table. I used an existing file cabinet for records and purchased a used copying machine that ran on liquid toner (which, even at that time, was already obsolete). The basement served as a specialized packaging area, while borrowed space from two friends located miles apart handled production and warehousing.
I began my adventure, but only after receiving the approval of my wife Beverly and my two very young daughters, Lisa and Dara-all of whom became vital participants in the company's future success. (And yes, it was truly an adventure to start a company from scratch with only savings, no seed money, and family members as the only employees.)
My goal was to produce and sell cuvettes and other disposables for automated analyzers, a market where supply was limited outside of OEM producers. To get started, I sourced a high-quality "me-too" product line from foreign partners. Thanks to long-standing relationships with laboratory product dealers, I was fortunate to have many of them take a chance on us. They liked the products, they reordered-and we were officially on our way.
Picture this: our basement turned into an assembly line. My wife Beverly, Lisa, Dara, and I each had a role-packing, labeling, and preparing shipments, all while balancing housework, schoolwork, and evening chores. It wasn't easy, but it was rewarding.
Fast forward to today-what an adventure it has been. Globe Scientific now operates from a 175,000 sq. ft. modern facility in Mahwah, New Jersey, staffed by a team of industry professionals. Our product line has grown to include over 4,500 laboratory items, and we proudly serve major and regional distributors across the U.S. and around the world.
In 2018, after years of dedication and leadership, Dara Diamond was promoted to President & CEO, continuing the family legacy. In 2023, Dennis Hoeft, a respected industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, was promoted to President. Having worked at Globe Scientific for more than seven years, Dennis brings extensive leadership, sales expertise, and strategic insight. His contributions have been instrumental in expanding our product offerings and strengthening partnerships across the industry.
In 2022, Globe Scientific became part of GSI Group Holdings, a U.S.-based holding company specializing in leading branded laboratory consumables and benchtop equipment for scientific, academic, and industrial markets. Together, we are leveraging our unmatched supply chain and award-winning customer service to offer one of the most comprehensive product portfolios in the industry delivering laboratory consumables, benchtop equipment, and accessories at competitive prices.
In 2023, we expanded our reach with Globe Scientific products now stocked in our CO2-neutral warehouse in The Netherlands, supporting a growing network of European distributors. This facility provides local service, inventory, and expertise, ensuring faster deliveries and an enhanced customer experience across Europe.
